  • Sion Scripture Study Program - Jerusalem

Teachers of Religious Education in Primary schools may apply for a full scholarship to take the one-month course in Jerusalem. Normally there will be four such places available annually.

    • Leave from school must be obtained from the Principal.
    • Teachers who apply should be employed on a full-time basis, unless a teacher is working part-time on a temporary basis and intends to return to full-time work.

    Process of Selection

All applicants need to be selected by the Committee and attend any preparatory sessions required.

In deciding whether a scholarship will be available, the Committee will take into account any other sponsorship the applicant has received.

    Enrichment Leave

Principals and those Catholic Education Office staff who are entitled to enrichment leave may
choose to access the Sion Program as a suitable program to meet their needs. Enrichment leave
programs must be approved by the Director.

    Long Service Leave

Teachers, Principals and Catholic Education Office staff may seek a place in the Sion program
during long service leave, if they wish to do so. All associated costs would be their own responsibility. Arrangements to attend the program would also be their own responsibility.

    Professional Development

Catholic Education Office Staff may be sponsored as a Professional Development opportunity if the Director deems that such an opportunity is sufficiently relevant to the person’s work in the diocese, or to the present and future needs of the diocese.
