About the School

Sacred Heart Primary School has a long tradition of providing quality Catholic education in Morwell.  The school was established in 1884 and from 1907 until 1992 was administered by the Sisters of St Joseph.

We are a school that prides itself on the pastoral care offered to each child.  We aim to educate our students to be skilled, informed, tolerant, open and just, to discover God and reach their full potential.

Our teachers understand that children have different gifts and talents.

The curriculum at Sacred Heart Primary School is inclusive and allows for individual success.

Our curriculum is structured to accommodate the ability level and learning style of each child. All children are encouraged and supported in their learning throughout their years at our school.

We recognise the importance of technology in the world today.  Each class has access to the latest interactive technology including Smartboards and computers are available in each classroom.

Sacred Heart Primary School has been extensively refurbished in recent years.  In 1997, a new administration block was added and new toilets were built.  In 2000, a new stairway was constructed, the library was extended and central heating and air-conditioning were installed throughout the school. A complete refurbishment of all classrooms was completed in 2006 with teaching areas being transformed into modern, bright and comfortable learning environments.  A new multi-purpose room was built in 2007, providing an area where the whole school can gather together and extra-curricular activities such as drama, perceptual motor program and music can take place.  In 2011 we anticipate the completion of our new library.
