Local Catholic school appoints new principal

16 August, 2019

The new principal of St Mary’s Primary School in Sale will be a familiar face for many families.

The school’s deputy principal, Mr Brett Morris, will step up to the position in time for the start of the 2020 school year. Current principal, Ms Cathy Mesaric, is set to retire at the end of 2019.

Mr Morris has extensive experience as an educator and school leader and will be transitioning from his current role over the coming months.

“I’m so appreciative of the time I have spent working with Cathy and I am excited at the opportunity to take on this challenging new role,” he said.

After eight years at the helm of the school, Ms Mesaric said she is happy to see that St Mary’s will be left in good hands.

“I know Brett will lead St Mary’s with integrity, enthusiasm and wisdom, maintaining the school’s position as a quality provider of affordable Catholic education in the Sale community,” she said.

Director of Catholic Education for the Diocese of Sale, Ms Maria Kirkwood, congratulated Mr Morris on his appointment.

“It is very rewarding to see expert teachers growing into distinguished leaders in our Catholic schools. We have high expectations of our staff and students, and encourage everyone to strive for equity and excellence, as I’m sure Brett will continue to do in his new role,” Ms Kirkwood said.
