2018 Father James Wall Bursary Winner

St Peter’s College Student Awarded Father James Wall Bursary 

The Father James Wall Bursary is awarded to a Year 10 Catholic secondary school student who demonstrates leadership potential in a range of areas, including science, arts, public speaking, sporting activities, community service and social justice activities.

 One student within the Diocese of Sale is awarded a $4,000 bursary through the generous support of the Catholic Development Fund (CDF) in conjunction with the Catholic Education Office, Diocese of Sale.

 St Peter’s College is proud to announce that Mikayla Van Der Velden was selected from a very strong field of Diocesan candidates.

 The Principal of St Peter’s College, Mr Chris Black, stated that Mikayla is a much deserving winner of this Bursary.

 “Mikayla has undertaken leadership roles since she first arrived at the College. She has been a Forum Leader during all of her school years and served on the Student Representative Council in 2017. She has also held the role of student representative on the College Uniform Sub-committee.”

 “Mikayla is active in all areas of College life and has been recognised previously through awards for poetry and creative writing, sporting accomplishments, art, and leadership”.

 “Mikayla has been an active member of the College Youth Ministry Program. She drove the ‘Bike & Blend’ initiative that raised money for Caritas while promoting healthy living and stewardship for the Earth.”

 “Mikayla is active in her parish, volunteering as an altar server and undertaking assistant work in the piety store. She is involved with the City of Casey youth outreach service and has been a key organiser of youth arts events providing an outlet for young people to use their gifts and talents within their community.”

 The St Peter’s College Community warmly congratulates Mikayla on her Award.
